Dear all

In the coming months the Embassy will experience a high number of activities both on the political and cultural front.

The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre will visit China at the end of August. In September he will be followed by no less than 3 ministers: of Higher Education & Research, Culture, and Labour respectively.

On the culture front, Lin Zhaohua’s acclaimed version of the Master Builder by Henrik Ibsen’s is scheduled for performance in Beijing this month. A few weeks later, the same opportunity will be offered to an audience in Oslo as Lin brings the play to the 2010 Ibsen Stage Festival in Norway.

Further visits and events in September and October will be announced shortly on the Embassy’s website. Stay tuned!

	A Norwegian network for current and former Chinese students in Norway and Norwegian students in China will be launched in September.Read more >

1,5 million visitors at the Norwegian EXPO pavilion
	The Norwegian Expo pavilion passed 1,5 million visitors last week, which means Norway is already halfway to reaching its estimated goal of 3 million visitors during EXPO 2010. Read more >

First of four ships to Norwegian Höegh Autoliners
	A modern car carrier – the first in a series of four - was delivered from Xiamen Shipyard to Norwegian ship-owner Höegh Autoliners on the 16th of July. Being the first car carrier built for Höegh in China, she was aptly named “Höegh Beijing”. The three sister vessels are due for delivery October 2010 and June and October 2011. Read more >

The Master Builder
	Henrik Ibsen’s The Master Builder is scheduled for performance at Peking University Hall on the 19th and 20th of August. Lead actors are Pu Cunxin and Tao Hong. The play is directed by Lin Zhaohua, one of China's most prominent theater directors.　 Read more >

Chinese participation at the Ibsen Stage Festival 2010 in Oslo
	The biannual Ibsen Stage Festival at the Norwegian National Theatre will be held for the 12th time this year and host Ibsen productions from all over the world. The Master Builder by Lin Zhaohua Theatre Studio is this year’s Chinese contribution. Read more >

Matias Faldbakken in Beijing
	The Beijing Today Art Museum will present the work of Matias Faldbakken as part of the group exhibition entitled The Second Today's Documents from the 18th of September through to the 24th of October 2010. Within 'The Second Today's Documents', Faldbakken presents the installation work Tarp Piece.Read more >

Secret garden performs at EXPO Cultural Center
	A spectacular performance is planned for the 25th of September in the Cultural Performance Centre at Expo 2010 Shanghai, including such acts as Secret Garden. The event, organized by Norwegian coating company Jotun, will also feature several other key Chinese and Norwegian performers.Read more >

Marit Larsen heading to China
	Marit Larsen, a Norwegian singer and songwriter, will tour China this autumn. Larsen will be performing at the Norwegian Expo pavilion and at the UBPA Square at the Expo site in Shanghai on 29th of September. Read more >

Skaidi in China and Mongolia
	The duo Skaidi is set to embark on a tour in China from the 4th to the 9th of October, visiting Beijing, Tianjin, Wuhan, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. The Asia tour also includes performances at the Giant Steppes Jazz Festival 2010 in Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia from the 30th of September to the 2nd of October. Read more >

Bergen Woodwind Quintet in China
	Bergen Woodwind Quintet is set to embark on their first China tour in October of this year. Read more >

Frøy Aagre in Beijing
	The Norwegian jazzband Frøy Aagre, named after its female lead singer, is scheduled to visit China this autumn. The band will be performing at the Nine Gates Jazz festival in Beijing, which opens on the 9th of October. Read more >

A Doll's House
	A new interpretation of Ibsen’s A Doll House is scheduled for performance in Beijing’s Capital Theatre this autumn, from the 21st to 23rd of October. The event is the result of collaboration between Ibsen International and Purple Star for Jin Xing Dance Theatre. Read more >
