An exciting set of cultural events and high level visits still lay ahead of us, not least Norway Day, the 28th of May, at Expo 2010 Shanghai.

The Trondheim Symphony Orchestra will be launching their China tour today in Beijing, an occasion which coincides with the arrival to China of the Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Trond Giske.

Norway Day will attract a number of prominent guests such as HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway. Mr. Giske and the Norwegian minister of Oil and Energy, Mr. Terje Riis-Johansen will also be present. The cultural programme includes a joint performance by the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and the Trondheim soloists of a new piece by Chinese composer Tan Dun, who will be personally conducting for the occasion. Other artists such as Sissel Kyrkjebø and Secret Garden are also integral to this performance.

Trondheim Symphony Orchestra
	The Trondheim based Symphony and Choir Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (TSO) will tour China from the 20th to 29th of May, as part of the orchestra's centennial celebrations. The tour begins at the Beijing Century Theatre on May the 21st.Read more >

	The 28th of May is Norway Day at Expo 2010 Shanghai. The occasion will be celebrated with an exciting cultural programme, including well-known Norwegian and Chinese artists. HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway will be among the many prominent guests. Read more >

Visit by Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Mr. Trond Giske
	The Norwegian minister of Trade and Industry Mr. Trond Giske is set to embark on a 10-day visit to China between the 21st and 31st of May. The minister’s program, which centers on Norway Day at Expo 2010 Shanghai also includes visits to Beijing, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Suzhou and Chongqing. Read more >

Visit by Norwegian Minister of Oil and Energy Mr. Terje Riis-Johansen
	The Norwegian Minister of Oil and Energy, Mr. Terje Riis-Johansen, will visit China between the 26th of May and the 1st of June, during which time he will visit World Expo Shanghai, and the cities of Hangzhou, Yantai and Beijing. Read more >

"Lost in Nature" in Beijing
	The architectural exhibition ”Lost in Nature” by Norwegian Architects Jarmund/Vigsnæs will be on display at Tsinghua School of Architecture between 24. May and 5. June, with an official opening on Monday the 24th, at three in the afternoon. The exhibition highlights selected works of the Oslo-based firm. Read more >

Norway Days in Chongqing
	Chongqing and Sør-Trøndelag plan to deepen their twinning relationship with a set of events of culture, business, research and education between the 30th of May and the 1st of June. The cultural program includes an impressive roster of Norwegian artists such as the Trondheim Soloists, Sissel Kyrkjebø and Håkon Gullvåg. Read more >

Trondheim soloists on tour in China
	Trondheim soloists will be touring in China in May and June, performing music by Edvard Grieg and Tan Dun as well as traditional Scandinavian music. The tour includes a performance at the Shanghai Expo during Norway Day on the 28th of May.Read more >

Håkon Gullvåg in China
	Norwegian painter Håkon Gullvåg will be presenting his works to a Chinese audience in a series of exhibitions across the country in the period 2010-2011. The exhibition will be accompanied by the publication of a new book documenting 20 years of his life’s work. Read more >

Secret Garden in Beijing
	The award winning Irish-Norwegian duo Secret Garden will perform at the Beijing Exhibition Theatre on the 29th and 30th of May. Read more >

New exhibition by Norwegian artist A K Dolven to China
	The exhibition entitled Ahead will have its official opening on the 5th of June and will be open from the 6th of June to the 11th of July. This exhibition is part of a continuing dialogue established at the Chinese art gallery Platform China concerning the role of the moving image in contemporary art. Read more >

New Nordic Landscapes
	Norway in collaboration with its Nordic neighbors present New Nordic Landscapes, an exhibition to be held between the 1st of June and 15th of August at the Nordic lighthouse in Shanghai. The themes are biodiversity in an urban context, interaction between infrastructure and landscape and process urbanism.Read more >

Yunnan International Green Film Festival
	”Breaking the Ice” is the first topic of this newly started film festival, scheduled to open the 7th of June. The film festival aims to present both Chinese and International films which focus on the topic of nature and environment. The festival will close on the 12th of June.Read more >

A Sino-Norwegian Seminar on POPs and Mercury in Xiamen
	A joint seminar between China and Norway on persistent organic pollutants and mercury was held in Xiamen, a coastal city in Southeast China’s Fujian Province in the last week of April. Read more >
