Dear all

June is here and this month has a number of high-level political visits and exciting cultural events in store. 

After the high level of Norwegian official visits to China in May, June will see an equally high number of Chinese visits to Norway. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms Fu Ying, Politburo standing committee member He Guoqiang and Procurator general Cao Jinming are all planning to visit the country. Norway will also host a Chinese delegation to take part in the upcoming Arctic dialogue and conference. At the same time, several Norwegian vice-ministers in the field of Trade & Industry, Oil & Energy, Agriculture and Foreign Affairs are scheduled to visit China.   

In addition, June in China has a lot of Norwegian art to offer, with ongoing exhibitions in Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Chongqing and Beijing. The Yunnan International Green Film Festival is also scheduled to kick off early this month. For more information see below

New exhibition by Norwegian artist A K Dolven to China
	The exhibition entitled Ahead will have its official opening on the 5th of June and will be open from the 6th of June to the 11th of July. This exhibition is part of a continuing dialogue established at the Chinese art gallery Platform China concerning the role of the moving image in contemporary art. Read more >

New Nordic Landscapes
	Norway in collaboration with its Nordic neighbors present New Nordic Landscapes, an exhibition to be held between the 1st of June and 15th of August at the Nordic lighthouse in Shanghai. The themes are biodiversity in an urban context, interaction between infrastructure and landscape and process urbanism.Read more >

Yunnan International Green Film Festival
	”Breaking the Ice” is the first topic of this newly started film festival, scheduled to open the 7th of June. The film festival aims to present both Chinese and International films which focus on the topic of nature and environment. The festival will close on the 12th of June.Read more >

Håkon Gullvåg in China
	Norwegian painter Håkon Gullvåg will be presenting his works to a Chinese audience in a series of exhibitions across the country in the period 2010-2011. The exhibition will be accompanied by the publication of a new book documenting 20 years of his life’s work. Read more >

Norwegian bus campaign in Beijing
	The summer is one of the best times to experience stunning Norwegian nature and culture. It is also high season for Chinese vacationers. On that note, the Norwegian Tourist Board is launching a bus/poster campaign in the Beijing area. Read more >

The anchor from the world’s largest ship - shipped by Norway to Hong Kong

The 35 ton anchor has been purchased by the Hong Kong Maritime Museum and will be placed in front of the Museum’s new building at Central. The Norwegian Government will finance the transport of the anchor to Hong Kong, as a token of the longstanding maritime ties between Hong Kong and Norway. The world’s largest ship, ex Seawise Giant and Jahre Viking, was owned by Hong Kong and subsequently Norwegian owners. Read more >

Elephant in the Room Theatre: Facehook
	Elephant in the Room Theatre, a theatre group led by Norwegian director Oda Fiskum and Italian director Fabrizio Massini, will present their first bilingual performance on the 12 and 13th of June in Beijing at the Penghao Theatre. The play entitled Facehook explores the effect of online social networking communities on modern society. Read more >

"Lost in Nature" in Beijing
	The architectural exhibition ”Lost in Nature” by Norwegian Architects Jarmund/Vigsnæs will be on display at Tsinghua School of Architecture between 24. May and 5. June, with an official opening on Monday the 24th, at three in the afternoon. The exhibition highlights selected works of the Oslo-based firm. Read more >
