In 2011, the NORDOX film festival in Beijing will be joined by a photo exhibition presenting recent works from 7 Nordic artists. The artists and images selected for the exhibition give a taste of the vitality of contemporary photography in the Nordic countries through the work of young photographers. When NORDOX goes to Shanghai and Guangzhou, the plan is for the photo exhibition to be displayed there as well.Read more >

Renowned Norwegian sculptor Ola Enstad came to China for a 2 month residency at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing in 2005. He liked it so much that he stayed, and has now moved his studio to Beijing. Throughout October and November 2011, his works “Chongqing Man 11” and “Chongqing Man 12” are on display at the First International Sculpture Biennale, which is held in Datong, Shanxi province. The Business for Social Responsibility and Ethical Trading Initiative Norway, with support from the Norwegian Consulate General Guangzhou, organised a seminar on current labour issues in Shenzhen. In a ceremony held at Beijing Normal University on Tuesday 11 October, the release of professors Stephen von Tetzchner and Harald Martinsen’s book on how to help autistic children communicate was celebrated. The authors have long been working on this important issue with health professionals in China, and they hope that the publishing of this book in Chinese will better equip professionals and families in their efforts to help autistic children learn to communicate.Read more >
On 9 – 11 October more than 30 scientists gathered in a seminar hosted by The Nordic Centre at Fudan University, Shanghai. The agenda was to discuss the Nordic Welfare Model and its possible relevance to a Chinese or South East Asian Model.Read more >
