China’s deputy Prime Minister Li Keqiang and US former state secretary, Henry Kissinger spent the last June weekend of 2011 in Beijing discussing global economic challenges. Professor Ola M. Johannessen, executive chairman of the Board of the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center in Bergen, Norway was appointed ”Visiting Professor for Senior International Scientists of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)” for 2010. Read more

China has for a long time taken an interest in the Norwegian welfare model. In light of this interest, the Norwegian Embassy in Beijing and the Consulate General in Guangzhou organized a study tour for Chinese participants on October 18th-22nd. The focus was the Norwegian welfare model. Read more

The second meeting under the Sino-Norwegian Environmental Cooperation took place at San Ya, Hainan Province, 11. – 13. September. The bilateral cooperation was established in 1995, and renewed by a Memorandum of Understanding in 2008 following the establishment of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China, MEP. Next year`s meeting will take place in Norway. Read more

The co-operation between Rogaland and Guangdong was confirmed through the signature of a provisional sister province agreement in Guangzhou September 17th. Read more

Chongqing and Sør-Trøndelag plan to deepen their twinning relationship with a set of events of culture, business, research and education between the 30th of May and the 1st of June. The cultural program includes an impressive roster of Norwegian artists such as the Trondheim Soloists, Sissel Kyrkjebø and Håkon Gullvåg. Read more

CRI Online, the official multi-language website of China Radio International (CRI), China's only state international radio broadcaster, formally launched six more foreign language services on September 23, including Norwegian, making the total number of language services operated on CRI Online to 59. A group of twenty adventurous persons gathered at the Guangzhou Consul General's residence yesterday. All of the guests are on their way to a cruise around the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic this summer. Svalbard (Spitzbergen) is located at between 74 and 81 degrees north, close to the North Pole. Read more
