The Consulate General opened in Guangzhou

Norway's Minister of the Environment and International Development, Mr. Erik Solheim, opened the new Norwegian Consulate General in Guangzhou on July 3rd.

The official opening of the new Consulate General in Guangzhou took place at the Westin Hotel Guangzhou July 3 2008. The opening was presided over by the Norwegian Minister of the Environment and International Development, Mr. Erik Solheim, and attended by the Governor of Guangdong, Mr. Huang Huahua, and many other dignitaries and friends of Norway in China. During his visit to Guangzhou, Mr. Solheim also met with the Guangdong Party Secretary, Mr. Wang Yang. A main message from Mr. Solheim was that Norway, with its maritime, off-shore and environmental technologies, can help South China fulfil its ambition of continued, sustainable growth.

Minister Solheim and Governor Huang spoke at the opening ceremony, during which guests were also offered a taste of contemporary Norwegian culture, a song performance by the Choir of Guangdong Experimental School, and finally a buffet of Norwegian salmon and other seafood.
