MFA Secretary General visits China

Last updated: 03/08/2010 // The Secretary General of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Bjørn Grydeland, paid a visit to Beijing and Guangzhou last week.

His comprehensive programme included briefings on the Norwegian government's China strategy, meetings with the MFA and MOFCOM in Beijing, meetings with Norwegian business representatives and of discussions with embassy and consulate staff.

During the Beijing visit, Mr. Grydeland had a meeting with Mr. He Yafei, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs. He also had discussions with Mr. Zhang Kening, Director General in the Ministry of Commerce. Mr. Grydeland also had a chance to tour the National Centre for Performing Arts, where Mozart’s “Magic Flute” will be performed in November as a cooperation between the Norwegian National Opera, the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) and Opera Hong Kong.

In Guangzhou, the Secretary General visited Yuexin Shipyard, which currently is building two advanced supply vessels designed by the Norwegian company Havyard, a part of the Havila group. The purpose of the visit to the yard was to learn about at modern Sino-Norwegian industrial partnership in the maritime sector, a kind of partnership encouraged by the Norwegian Embassy and Consulates General.
