Visit by Dr Kyrre Lekve, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research.

Last updated: 02/06/2010 // Dr. Lekve visited Shanghai May 20-27 along with officials from the ministry and the Norwegian Research Council.

His compact and hectic programme included a two-day seminar in the Norwegian pavilion at the Expo, entitled “Developing Sustainable Energy Future R&D for New Energy Solutions”,  which addressed issues such as carbon capture and storage, and wind and solar energy.

 

Dr. Lekve also took a part in the opening of the new and beautiful Nordic centre building at Fudan, along with other Nordic representatives from their respective ministries of education, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Nordic centre.   The Nordic Centre was first initiated by former Prime Minster of Norway, Mrs. Gro Harlem Brundtland, and the new modern building is a milestone in further co-operation in fields of education and research between China and Norway.

 At Fudan, Dr. Lekve also had meetings with theUniversity President, Prof. Yang Yuliang, and Fudan School of management and representatives, both managers and students, from the BI Norwegian School of Management and the student association ANSA, to discuss further Sino-Norwegian cooperation in the field of education.

 

His visit also included meetings with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, (Shanghai branch) as well as the Shanghai Municipality Science & Technology Commission, where important future co-operation between Norwegian and Chinese research institutions were initiated.

 

Lekve’s  programme included an entertaining visit to the Shanghai Museum of Science and Technology where topics such as how to increase the interest of sciences and realities amongst young pupils in the primary- and secondary school level.
