The People’s Republic of China has gone through impressive development the last decades and become an important global power.
This year also marks 55 years of diplomatic relations between Norway and China. Our two countries have enjoyed, and still enjoy, excellent relations in many areas, and our joint history also goes beyond the 55 years of diplomatic relations. Areas of mutual interest and trust have in recent years expanded from politics, economy and trade, to other sectors, including environmental protection, cultural exchanges, research collaboration and education.
It is my hope that the relations between China and Norway will continue to expand in the years to come. Norway wants to learn more about China, we want to be China’s partner in its development, in its international cooperation and addressing common opportunities and challenges.
Again, I would like to express my warm wishes to the People’s Republic of China, its government and people, on this historic occasion. I look forward to celebrate the 60th anniversary together with you!
