Thursday March 18 there will be a press conference in Beijing on the recent seminar and upcoming conference concerning Chinese and Norwegian cooperation in offshore wind power.
Offshore wind power is very different from onshore wind power when it comes to various technology and operation challenges. Norwegian companies have a good reputation for offshore wind development and construction in Northern Europe and engage in close cooperation with other European countries. Currently Norwegian companies are seeking cooperation with China.
In order to explore this potential, the Norwegian Consulate General in Guangzhou, WWF, Innovation Norway, and the Energy Research Institute of the NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission) are holding a seminar on offshore wind power in Bergen Norway, 15th to 16th March. This seminar introduces Norwegian technology to Chinese companies and explores the potentials of business cooperation in offshore wind power between China and Norway. Ms. Sigrid Hjørnegård, Deputy Minister of the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, gives an opening speech at the seminar.
A Chinese delegation of relevant Chinese authorities and top management from leading energy companies participates at the seminar. The delegation is lead by Mr. Li Junfeng, Deputy Director of the Energy Research Institute of the NDRC. In addition to the seminar, the delegation will also visit several Norwegian wind power companies, including Hywind, the world’s first full scale floating wind turbine.
In addition to this seminar, the Norwegian Consulate General in Guangzhou is co-organizing Offshore Wind China 2010 in Shanghai June 7-9 – the most important conference in the field of offshore wind in China this year. The Norwegian Consulate General in Guangzhou will organize a delegation from important offshore wind power companies in Norway to join this conference. Apart from a two-day programme of presentations covering all aspects of the sector, this conference also includes an exhibition area where Norway will have a national pavilion.
To promote the above activities, the Norwegian Consulate General in Guangzhou and the Energy Research Institute of the NDRC will hold a press conference in Beijing. The details are as follows,
