Norway and Mongolia marks the anniversary of 40 years of diplomatic relations

Norway and Mongolia marks the 40th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations with an exchange of congratulations between the two countries’ Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

Norway and Mongolia established diplomatic relations 11 January 1968. Minster of Foreign Affairs Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre writes in the greeting to his colleague Mrs. Sanjaasuren Oyun:  “Norway and Mongolia have always enjoyed good and fruitful relations since the bilateral relations were established.”In connection with the anniversary cultural activities to mark the event are being planned.

The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs also takes this opportunity to congratulate Mrs. Oyun with her recent appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs in Mongolia.

The diplomatic relations between Norway and Mongolia has increased since the mid 1990’s. Since then there has been a good and continuous exchange of visits between the two countries. Most recently, Mr N. Enkhbold, then Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited Norway in June 2007 and the Chairman of the Board of Auditors’ General in Norway Jørgen Kosmo visited Mongolia in August 2007.
