The delegates work within the field of Business and Economy, and the focus of the press visit was the Norwegian economy, the Norwegian welfare model, and business cooperation between China and Norway. The Social Policy Forum was organized by China Institute for Reform and Development (CIRD) and Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research (NIBR) in Haikou, Hainan December 1-2, 2012. This Forum has played an important role for many years as a platform for discussions of regional development of mutual interests as well as an important channel for contacts between our the two countries. Mr. Bjørn Blokhus, Consul General of the Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai, visited Ziluolan migrant elementary school on 27 September 2012, by invitation from Møllers, Norwegian Cod Liver Oil producer, who are launching their cod liver oil product in China this year. Møllers donated 3000 bottles of Cod Liver Oil to the 1040 pupils of the Ziluolan migrant elementary school. Read more

On 21 December 2011 the Norwegian government announced they will offer up to 6 billion SDR (equivalent to 7 billion euros) to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as a bilateral loan to contribute to stabilising the European and international economy, and thus also contribute to safeguarding the Norwegian economy and Norwegian jobs.
