Last updated: 25/02/2011 // The Norwegian polar explorer, educator and motivational speaker Liv Arnesen is visiting Beijing from 27 February until 5 March, and will be talking about her breathtaking past endeavors as well as her upcoming crossing of the Antarctic.

The tour will include a series of lectures, meetings and interviews with media. As part of the lecture series, Arnesen will visit The Royal Norwegian Embassy, some of Beijing’s most renowned universities, and the Western Academy of Beijing. There will also be a chance for the public to enjoy her exciting lecture at The Bookworm in Sanlitun on Tuesday 1 March.

The Norwegian tradition of polar explorers
Arnesen certainly follows a tradition of great Norwegian polar explorers, and has an impressive resume. In addition to participating in an expedition to Mount Everest, she is also the first woman to ski solo and unsupported to the South Pole, and to cross the Greenland Ice Cap.

Be sure to join her at the Bookworm Tuesday 1 March, where she will give an inspirational account of her past experiences and adventures. The event will also focus on her next expedition - a crossing of the Antarctic commemorating Roald Amundsen’s discovery of the South Pole, 100 years ago.

The expedition to the Antarctic is in cooperation with Access Water, a UNESCO educational outreach program.

Get inspired for a spring trip out of Beijing as she talks about how this group of women from all over the world, some of them experienced adventurers, some never having worn skies before, prepare for their upcoming adventures!
