The Norwegian who followed his dream walking the entire Great Wall finally reached his goal the first week of December.
On his last part of the trip several Chinese journalists followed him in what he referred to as “typical Chinese style”. Journalists from different newspapers, television and radio stations shared his last steps of the Great Walk. Maybe his great achievement will positively encourage more Chinese to stay active?
The 6th of December Mr. Loken finally arrived on Norwegian soil. At the airport he was met by his girlfriend, family and friends. On his blog he stated that it “felt so strange, but really really good to be back home in one piece”.
Mr. Loken is already enjoying the Norwegian food he missed so much. He is also looking forward to the Christmas concert with the Norwegian artist Bjorn Eidsvaag, an artist that kept him company on his record player on his great trip.
Mr. Loken is the first person in the world to complete this arduous walk along the Ming Dynasty Great Wall from Jiayuguan in Gansu Province to Dandong in Liaoning Province. He has walked for probably more than 600 days and estimates that he has walked more than 5000 kilometers all together.
One thing is for certain, China has given him a memory that he will never forget. Eventhough this experience caused his body many injuries, he meet many friendly and helpful people on the way.
